The paradox of religion in Australia
Editorial by Bruce Duncan
Attitudes to religion and faith in Australia confront us with a curious paradox. On the one hand, the dominant culture appears strongly secular, especially as it is reflected in some of the media.
Yet on the other hand, religious organisations and groups play an extraordinary role in education, health care and hospitals, disability groups, social services and myriads of community networks, encouraging volunteering and charitable activities of all types.
